When he finished high school in 2015, Cartier studied Musicology at the University of Utrecht, where he learned about music theory, analysis of classical compositions, and music history.
Along with this study he followed an education in Amsterdam called ProMusic Training, that focused on how to write music for different kinds of instruments and arrangements.
Subsequently, Sam went to the Audio-Visual Academy (in Hilversum, The Netherlands) in 2016, an education about studio engineering and music production.
In 2017 he started studying E-Music at the Conservatory in Haarlem, The Netherlands, where he graduated in 2021. During this study, he learned how to operate professionally as a producer and composer, and how to collaborate and assemble new contacts. He was educated in studio technology, mixing, stage performing, music production techniques, entrepreneurship, music education, musical hearing, sound design, foley, and composing for film, games and commercials.
During this 4-year trajectory at the Conservatory in Haarlem, Sam realized more specifically what type of composer-producer he wanted to be. Because of his love for countless types of music and his love for the film and gaming industry, Sam Cartier decided to focus on the musically diverse world of media composing.
