Wanen

'Wanen' (Delusions) is a fascinating film project, especially since it's interactive. This results in the viewer being able to change between two characters' perspectives at all times, and the music changes with it! This makes you realize how two people can experience reality very differently.

This Dutch short film (of 30 minutes), made by Sam de Vette, is about a young man named Koen, who's suffering from psychoses. The other main character is his girlfriend, Isa, who is slowly finding out about the severity of his condition.

Het Nu

'The Now' is a (20 minute long) Dutch short film, made by Koen van Driel, about the 25-year-old Roos who is dealing with the forthcoming death of her grandmother. To process her feelings, she tries living in 'the now' by meditative painting and talking to her spiritual friend. However, this mindset conflicts with her family.

Synthesis - VR-Film

Synthesis is a virtual reality (VR) animation, created by the gifted Matunda Groenendijk (Instagram: @bymatunda). As a composer, I was honored to create the original soundtracks for this special project. When you watch this short film like its meant to be watched (in VR), you will be able to walk and look around in a beautiful 3D-animated space with a compelling story about losing and rediscovering inspiration.

The complete version of this VR-film has not been distributed, so for now you can only watch the trailer.

Intro Star Trek: The Next Generation (Redo)

This is my musical version of the iconic intro from Star Trek: The Next Generation from the '80's. This was part of an assignment back when I studied at the Conservatory. I used the original video footage and completely redid the music, voice-over and sound effects.

In het Licht van de Dood

I created the original composition for this unique animation, 'In the Light of Death', made by the talented Amanda van de Meent. She wrote and portrayed the journey of losing your religion or 'home base' where you feel safe, and discovering something completely new.

Crossroads

I've composed the supporting music for this Belgian short film, created by Amelie Wilsens. This story is about two pregnant ladies who change each other's lives. The idea for this film was based on the question: "What if there is this girl who is pregnant but doesn’t want to be and she meets a woman that is happy about being pregnant?"

Gewortelde Angst

'Rooted Fear' is a student project, made by director Sem de Groot. It is a short film about two female interns wanting to help out a forester. What begins as a fun internship in a peaceful environment, soon becomes a thrilling story when the girls find strange hints and notice the forester's peculiar behavior.

BACCHUS

This was my submission for a film composer competition in 2020, called the Hamlisch Awards. Every participant had to compose music for this completely soundless animation. Not only did I include music, I also felt the need to add sound effects. The professional judges of the contest were very positive about this submission.

This story is about a woman who is bored by her repetitive and motionless life, when she suddenly encounters a special being that leads to new experiences. I saw this as an opportunity to show the variety of music styles I'm able to work with, so that is why this video is full of different sounds and feelings.

Spring

This gorgeous Disney-like animation was provided by The Cue Tube as a music-free video. It is a short story about a girl and her dog in a rather 'magical' forest. I composed supporting cinematic music for their little adventure.
